Gastric Balloon

With the worldwide incidence of obesity reaching epidemic proportions, there is tremendous need for the development of new technologies and solutions that can help counter the negative societal impacts. One of the most commonly employed techniques used to address obesity is the gastric balloon.

There are two major advantages that differentiate the Medi-Globe Gastric Balloon from existing technologies:

1. The incorporation of a more resistant balloon material – resulting in anticipated effective product longevity of two years or longer - resulting in fewer hospitalization visits and lower overall usage costs.

2. The implantation of a permanent access tube allowing the volume of the balloon to be adjusted over the duration of the treatment period. Therefore, the “stomach volume” can be easily adjusted to coincide with changing patient requirements.

The Medi-Globe Gastric Balloon is currently in the research and prototype development phase.
