Incontinence Prosthesis
Male Incontinence Treatment
Medi-Globe’s innovative Incontinence Prosthesis is an implantable device consisting of a sophisticated silicone catheter that is intended to be fully inserted into the urethra of incontinent male patients. The involuntary leakage of urine from the bladder is thus eliminated.
All currently available alternatives such as diapers and urinary condoms are unpleasant and difficult to handle for patients. Further, Medi-Globe’s unique catheter anchoring system - securing the catheter to the very end of the urethra, will significantly minimize the risk of infections. In addition, the initial placement, handling and replacement of the catheter is simple and can be managed independently by the patient.
This device represents tremendous potential as a life-style product that will both reduce the occurrence of infections and liberate otherwise “trapped patients” from their social isolation.
Commercialization is expected during the second half of 2009, pending the successful completion of final testing.
