A
new, multifunctional system for healing problematic
wounds with infection barriers.
SondoFix is a triangular glycogel wound dressing
(gel on glycerine basis), equipped with a pre-cut
slit leading to a circular perforation. The gel
is fixed to a hypo-allergenic plaster.
The Glycogel-Wound-Bandage is easily fixed around
catheter thanks to its per-cut slit and circular
perforation. A hypo-allergenic, semi-transparent
and cushioned plaster is gelled, therefore making
application and wound inspection easy, providing
greater patient comfort. The gel has proven to be
anti-microbial and the extremely absorbent effect
of Glycerine traps the exudates of the wound, so
that the growth of bacteria and fungi is eliminated.
A possible infection of the catheter entrance will
quickly heal. The bandage reduces wound odour and
has a slight cooling effect.

The concept of the bandaging was based around PEG-catheters
(nutritional supply) or subcutaneous catheters (also
known as Zystofix). Because SondoFix absorbs dampness
and provides a secure seal, it can remain at the
application site during brief contact with water
(i.e. showering), a further attribute in the enhancement
of patient comfort. SondoFix can remain in place
for up to 7 days, drastically reducing cost in comparison
to conventional wound dressing.

The costs for PEG-bandaging with GLYCOcell
SondoFIX are nearly ¼
of that of a conventional bandage. Furthermore,
it offers anti-microbial effectiveness! Additional
costs are labour costs, these are only applicable
once a week with SondoFix, conventional bandaging
require changing 7x a week, or at least 3-4x a week.
GLYCOcell by Medi-Globe will contribute to bringing
the problematic of infected wounds under control.
This is of equal importance for both wound-mangers
as well as hospital hygienists.
